Law No. 14,553/23 was enacted, amending the Racial Equality Statute, requiring employers to include ethnic-racial identification in employment documents and records. Ethnic-racial identification will be defined based on self-classification, with employees responsible for providing their own identification.
Furthermore, the legislation provides that the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) conducts, every five years, a survey to identify the ethnic and racial percentage that makes up the public sector, with the aim of promoting the national policy of racial equality.
The documents that must contain this information are employment admission and dismissal forms, work accident forms, Sine (National Employment System) registration instruments, RAIS (Annual Social Information Report) and documents, including those made available electronically, intended for the registration of insured persons and dependents in the general Social Security regime.
