Law No. 14,457/22 requires companies with CIPA (Internal Committee for Accident Prevention and Harassment) to adopt measures to prevent and combat sexual harassment and other forms of violence in the workplace.
To avoid any “embarrassment with sexual connotations in the workplace”, the Legislation
requires companies to:
– Include rules of conduct regarding sexual harassment and other forms of violence in your corporate policies;
– Include the topic in CIPA activities and practices; and
– Establish procedures for receiving and following up on complaints.
In other words: every company with more than 81 employees must have implemented a Reporting Channel to investigate incidents of sexual harassment and other forms of violence in the workplace, under penalty of fines in the event of non-compliance.
The above measures must be adopted within 180 days of the law’s entry into force. Therefore, companies will have until March 21, 2023, to adapt their CIPA to the new rules.
