Decree No. 10,707/2021 regulated the holding of auctions for the acquisition of Capacity Reserve in the form of power, with the main objective of meeting the eventual demand for electrical energy from consumers of the National Interconnected System.
The objective is to have power available to meet demand, even in cases where fluctuations in energy supply occur in the future, resulting from factors that affect production (weather; sunlight; wind, etc.).
Now, it is up to the Ministry of Mines and Energy to define the amount of Reserve Capacity to be contracted, with the costs for acquiring the reserve being shared among users.
